Yellowfin Tuna Great White Shark Bite

Guadalupe Island is renowned for fishing stories of Great White Sharks taking large hooked up tuna right off the line, just as they are being brought to the boat. On this years White Shark photo trip I witnessed this behavior firsthand. A crewmember hooked up a large Yellowfin Tuna in the well over one hundred pound class. After transferring to a ponga, he fought the fish for a good twenty minutes or more. Sure enough just as the fish came to color a huge dark form appeared from below. A single bite of a Great White Shark left little more than the head to the exhausted fisherman.
