Digital File Specifications

File Size - Our standard image files are available at up to 58 megabytes for 8 bit color and 115 megabytes for 16 bit color. Depending on the equipment used, original files range from approximately 3900x2600 to 5400x3600 pixels. With very few exceptions, our images are displayed and delivered full frame as shot. They are not cropped and are never up-sampled unless specifically requested.

Up-Sampled Images - We do provide up-sampled images upon request. With the use of industry leading software, an original image can be increased in size from 200 to 400 percent or more, with very little loss of quality. If you require a larger file this is a great option.

Color Space - Industry standard Adobe-RGB (1998) extended gamut or sRGB color spaces.

File Types - Standard file formats are provided, Tiff or JPeg, with or without compression.

Re-sampling of images to your specifications is included at no additional cost.

Panoramic Images (PAN-000 Images)
Images designated with an id category of PAN-, such as PAN-000, are panoramic images. These have been created by digitally combining multiple high-resolution files. The original images are shot in overlapping sequences of from four to eight frames each. The result is a large very high quality, high-resolution panoramic image. For example, image PAN-000 San Diego skyline can be provided at up to a 216-megabyte tiff file. It could be reproduced as large as 10” X 83” at 300 dpi. The size of each panormic image will vary depending on the number of original frames used to create it. These are native files, no up-sampling has been applied.

Wide-Angle Crops (W-Images)
Images designated with a “W” as the last character of the id number, such as SSK-023W, are horizontal crops of the original image. They are always full frame width or about 5400 pixels horizontally. This results in a 300 dpi image at up to 18 inches wide. The height of the final image will vary based on the crop.

35mm or 70mm Dupes
Depending on the specific image, high quality 35mm or 70mm dupes are available for FedEx delivery.

Originals
If the image was originally captured on film, original 35mm transparencies can be made available on a negotiated basis. All original digital capture images are available as Nikon NEF Raw files. Depending on client needs and project requirements originals can be provided. Loss or damage of transparency originals will be subject to industry standard charges.
