Range: Found worldwide in temporate and subtropical
seas. Off the coast of California they are found as far north as Santa Barbara. Yellowtail are a highly migratory species. During summer months they are found in large numbers off Southern California, having traveled northward up the coast from Baja. They are often found around drift kelp or other drifting flotsam. Also a fast growing species they can reach a size of two feet within about two years. |
